Empowering our Leaders: Launch of New Leadership Development Programme

Investing in the Future of Primary Care

Operose Health are proud to announce the launch of our new Leadership Development Programme, a new initiative designed to invest in the growth and potential of our people. This tailored programme represents a key step in our commitment to developing our leadership talent, supporting colleague retention, and ultimately improving patient care outcomes.

Beginning in May 2025, the programme will support both Regional Managers and Practice Managers through a series of impactful modules — six for Regional Managers and four for Practice Managers — with a focus on applied learning and behavioural change.

“This programme isn’t just about learning; it’s about investing in our people and the future of primary care, and I’m delighted to offer this to our operational leaders.” said Victoria Wilkinson-Parish, National Operations Director. “By investing in the confidence and capability of our leaders, we are building a stronger, more resilient future for primary care — one that delivers better access, improved outcomes, and a consistently excellent patient experience.”

Programme Design & Flow

The Leadership Development Programme is designed around a continuous improvement cycle to support deep learning, practice, and reflection:

  1. Learn
  • Each module begins with a focused workshop session, introducing core concepts and leadership strategies.
  1. Reflect
  • Participants log and journal their learning to encourage self-awareness and insight.
  1. Practice
  • Practical application is paramount: leaders identify agreed actions with their mentors to apply their learning in real time.
  1. Reflect (again)
  • One-to-one mentoring with their manager offers a supportive space to review progress, gain feedback, and adjust actions if needed.
  1. Embed
  • Small group discussions enable peer-to-peer learning, sharing experiences, and embedding knowledge into day-to-day leadership.
  1. Prepare
  • Participants then prepare for the next module, building on previous insights to continue their leadership journey.

Programme Modules

The programmes covers key areas of leadership including emotional intelligence, confident people management, leading through change, and impactful communication. Regional Managers will also complete advanced modules focused on strategic leadership, commercial acumen, and building influential relationships. Each module is designed to develop practical skills that leaders can immediately apply in their roles.

Through this programme, we’re investing in our people to enhance their skills and developing leaders who can inspire teams, drive performance, and shape the future of primary care delivery.

Operose Health delivers local primary care, at scale to over 700,000 registered patients across 82 locations in 16 ICB areas. We have over 250,000 attendances at our urgent care centres and support some of the most vulnerable people through our specialist GP surgeries.

Our clinical model of localised delivery allows services to concentrate on local health needs, priorities and connections - whilst benefitting from the regional and centralised support that scale provides.
